About
Isley Simone Reust is a German-American documentary director and the founder of Wild Arctic Films, based in the Westfjords of Iceland. Her work focuses on remote and extreme environments, often filmed at sea during long-form expeditions.
Working across the Arctic, Antarctic, and equatorial regions, she creates character-driven films that explore human endurance, environmental change, and our evolving relationship with the planet.
Her upcoming films include Longest Row, following a solo rowing journey around the world; a feature documentary on the tall ship Bark Europa, chronicling a multi-month Atlantic crossing; and a film set in East Greenland exploring Inuit life in a rapidly changing Arctic. She also directed a documentary in West Point, Liberia, examining the human and ecological impact of overfishing along West Africa’s coast.
In addition, she contributed to the production of Ocean with David Attenborough during filming in West Africa. Her work has been featured by National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveler, and Lonely Planet.
